1. Welcome

SkillSaajha exists because of one simple idea: everyone has something to teach, and everyone has something to learn. Whether you are a college student stuck on a coding problem, a working professional who wants to pick up guitar, a teacher hoping to learn graphic design, or a hobbyist with a craft worth sharing - this platform is for you.

For a place like this to work, people have to behave well. Not because rules force them to, but because the whole thing collapses if they do not. The few minutes you spend here will save us all a lot of trouble later.

The short version: Be real. Be kind. Be honest. Don't sell anything. Don't try to make this a dating app. If you decide to meet someone you found here, that is entirely your call and your risk. We give you tools to block and report people who behave badly. We do enforce these rules.

2. Our Core Values

Three ideas guide everything we do, and we expect users to share them:

2.1 Trust over speed

It is better to have one good skill swap with someone you trust than ten rushed conversations with strangers. Take your time. Read profiles. Have a real chat before agreeing to meet.

2.2 Generosity, not transaction

SkillSaajha is not a marketplace. We do not measure who teaches more or who learns more. The exchange is two people sharing what they know, in good faith, for the value of it. If you treat someone like a transaction, they will feel it, and they will not come back.

2.3 Respect, always

Different backgrounds, different ages, different skill levels, different ways of speaking. Respect is the floor. There are no exceptions.

3. Be Real

Be the actual person your profile says you are. Use your real first name, your real age, and a real photo or an illustrated avatar that represents you. Write a bio that tells someone the truth about who you are and what you are interested in.

3.1 No fake profiles

You cannot create a profile that pretends to be someone else, a brand, a fictional character, a public figure, or a made-up person. One person, one account, one identity.

OK"Priya, 23, graphic design student in Bengaluru. I love working with type and want to learn front-end coding."
Not OK"Founder & CEO @ TechCorp" (when you are not), or using someone else's photograph, or running a "Test Account" alongside your real one.

3.2 No catfishing

Do not use photographs of someone who is not you. Do not lie about your age, gender, occupation, or location to make yourself more appealing. Honesty does not need to be exhaustive - you do not have to share everything - but what you do share has to be true.

3.3 One account per person

Multiple accounts are not allowed. If you get blocked or suspended, do not come back with a new email and try again. We can usually tell.

4. Be Kind

Kindness is non-negotiable. The shortcut is this: if you would not say it to someone in front of their friends, don't send it to them on SkillSaajha.

4.1 No harassment

Do not repeatedly message someone who has stopped replying. Do not pile on insults if a swap does not work out. Do not follow up "Why aren't you responding?" messages. People owe you nothing - including a reply.

4.2 No discrimination

Caste, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, language, accent, region, weight, appearance - none of these are reasons to insult anyone or refuse to interact based on a stereotype. Healthy preferences are fine ("I'd love a tutor familiar with Hindi medium math") - slurs and contempt are not.

4.3 No unwanted sexual content

SkillSaajha is not a dating or hookup app. Do not send sexual messages, images, or invitations. If someone tells you to stop, stop. If they have not told you to stop but you can sense the conversation is going somewhere they did not invite, do not push.

OKPolite first message: "Hi, saw you teach guitar - I'd love to learn the basics. I can teach you Python in return. Want to do a quick intro call?"
Not OK"hey beautiful", followed by "why aren't you replying", followed by "fine, your loss" - all within an hour.

4.4 No threats or violence

Threatening anyone - directly, indirectly, or by implication - will end your account permanently and may be reported to law enforcement. This includes threats made on the platform and threats made off the platform that we become aware of.

5. Be Honest About Your Skills

Other users decide to spend time with you based on the skills you list. Honesty here matters.

5.1 List skills you actually have

If you list "Advanced Python," other users will expect that level. If you have read one tutorial, list "Beginner" instead. There is no shame in being a beginner - beginners are a huge part of why this platform exists. The shame is in pretending.

5.2 Be honest about levels

"Intermediate" should mean you can hold a one-hour conversation about the topic, demonstrate it, and answer reasonable questions. If you can't, you're a beginner. If you can teach with confidence, you're advanced.

5.3 Don't promise outcomes

Do not promise other users that they will master a skill in a specific time, get a job, win a competition, or any other outcome. Teaching helps; it does not guarantee.

6. Respect Each Other's Time

People are giving you their time. It is the most expensive thing they have.

6.1 Show up

If you agree to a session - online or in person - show up. On time. Prepared. If something genuinely comes up, tell the other person as far in advance as you can manage.

6.2 Don't ghost

Ghosting - going silent after agreeing to something - is rude. If you are not interested anymore, say so politely. "I don't think this is going to work out, but thank you for the offer" is two seconds of typing and worlds better than silence.

6.3 Match your effort

If you ask someone to spend an hour teaching you, plan to spend an hour teaching them. The platform works on rough balance, not strict accounting - but a pattern of one-sided take is noticed by the people around you.

7. No Commercial Use

SkillSaajha is non-commercial. The whole point is that skills are exchanged for skills, not for money.

7.1 No paid teaching

Do not use SkillSaajha to find paying students or to charge for sessions. There are platforms for that - this is not one.

7.2 No promotions or advertising

Do not promote your business, your YouTube channel, your Discord server, your paid course, your investment scheme, your crypto project, or anything else commercial. This applies in your bio, your messages, and your in-person meetings if you arrange them.

7.3 No multi-level marketing or recruitment

Network marketing, dropshipping recruitment, "make money from home" pitches, pyramid schemes - none of these are welcome here. If you bring them up with another user, you will be banned.

OK"I teach photography as a hobby. I'd love to help you get started."
Not OK"I usually charge ₹2000/hr for this but I'll give you a discount. Or maybe just join my Telegram class?"

7.4 No competing platforms

Do not push other users to leave SkillSaajha for a competing platform or move conversations elsewhere with the goal of recruiting them for something else. Suggesting Google Meet or WhatsApp for the actual skill session is fine - that is what the in-app option is for.

8. Not a Dating App

SkillSaajha is for skill exchange. It is not a dating app, a hookup app, or a matrimonial site.

Two adults developing a friendship through a skill exchange is fine - that happens, and it is wonderful. But the platform itself is not built or used for romance, and we do not want it to be. Specifically:

If both users mutually shift to a friendship that turns into something more, that is between them. But it cannot start that way, and it cannot drive your behaviour on the platform.

9. Nothing Illegal

SkillSaajha will not be used for any activity that is illegal under Indian law or the law of the user's location.

9.1 No illegal skills

You cannot offer to teach, or learn, anything whose practice is illegal. This includes but is not limited to: making weapons or explosives, manufacturing or distributing drugs, hacking into systems you do not own, financial fraud, document forgery, or anything related to terrorism. The platform exists for legitimate skill exchange.

9.2 No child sexual abuse material

Any content involving the sexualisation of minors will result in an immediate permanent ban and will be reported to law enforcement, regardless of intent.

9.3 No hate speech or extremism

Content that promotes terrorism, violent extremism, or hatred against groups of people based on identity is not allowed.

9.4 No fraud

Do not try to defraud, scam, or financially harm another user. This includes phishing, romance scams, fake giveaways, "investment opportunities," or any other attempt to deceive someone for gain.

10. Respect Other People's Privacy

Other users on SkillSaajha trust the platform with their information. Do not betray that trust.

10.1 Don't share what isn't yours to share

Do not take screenshots of someone's profile, conversation, or photographs and share them outside SkillSaajha without their permission. Do not screenshot a conversation to mock someone on social media.

10.2 No doxxing

Do not try to find a user's home address, workplace, phone number, social media accounts, or family information beyond what they have voluntarily shared with you. Do not share another user's personal information with anyone.

10.3 Don't pressure people for personal information

If someone declines to share their phone number, last name, address, or anything else - accept that. Repeated pressure for personal information is not allowed.

11. Use the Platform as Intended

SkillSaajha is built for humans to find each other. Do not break it.

12. In-Person Meetings: Your Risk, Your Responsibility

Read this carefully. If you decide to meet another SkillSaajha user in person, you are doing so entirely at your own risk. SkillSaajha does not verify identities, does not run background checks, and cannot promise that any user is who they say they are or will behave the way you expect. We are a discovery and messaging tool. Anything that happens once you leave the app is outside our control and outside our responsibility.

SkillSaajha is built primarily for online skill exchange. We offer the in-person option because many people genuinely want to meet face-to-face, especially for skills like music, dance, sports, art, or crafts. If you use it, please take responsibility for your own safety.

Basic safety practices we suggest

  • Always meet in a public place first - a cafe, a library, a co-working space, a public park during the day.
  • Tell someone you trust where you are going, who you are meeting (share their name and profile if you can), and when you expect to be back.
  • Share your live location with a friend or family member during the meeting if you can.
  • Do not meet at anyone's home - yours or theirs - for a first session.
  • Stay sober and alert.
  • Do not share sensitive information like your bank details, ID documents, exact home address, or work passwords.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, leave. You do not owe anyone politeness at the cost of your safety.
  • End the session if you feel unsafe - and block and report the user.

SkillSaajha accepts no responsibility for any incident - including but not limited to physical harm, emotional harm, financial loss, theft, harassment, or any other consequence - arising from an in-person meeting arranged through the platform. By using the in-person meeting feature, you accept this risk.

13. Online Meetings: Same Rules, Same Risk

When you move from SkillSaajha's in-app chat to an external service such as Google Meet, Zoom, or WhatsApp, you leave SkillSaajha. The same principle applies: what happens off our platform is your responsibility, not ours.

The same kindness, honesty, and respect rules from this document still apply to your behaviour on those calls. If we receive a report of inappropriate conduct on an external call, we may still take action against your SkillSaajha account, even though we did not witness the conduct ourselves.

For your own safety on video calls:

14. Special Care: 16- and 17-Year-Olds

SkillSaajha is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account.

Reports concerning the safety of younger users are treated with the highest priority.

15. Reporting and Blocking

You have two tools to protect yourself, and you should use them.

15.1 Blocking

Block any user you no longer want to interact with. They will not be told. They will stop appearing to you, and you will stop appearing to them. You do not need a reason. Use the Block button whenever you want.

15.2 Reporting

If a user is breaking these Guidelines or behaving in a way that worries you, report them. The Report flow lets you pick a reason and optionally add details. Our team reads every report.

When to report

15.3 Reporter confidentiality

We do not tell the reported user who reported them. Their account may be reviewed, restricted, or removed without us revealing how the case started.

15.4 Don't abuse the report system

Submitting false reports, reports made in retaliation, or repeated reports against someone you simply dislike is itself a violation of these Guidelines and can result in action against your account.

16. What Happens When Rules Are Broken

We try to be fair, but we will act. Depending on what happened, how serious it is, and any history with your account, we may:

The exact action depends on the situation. We do not have a fixed punishment chart. We try to be proportionate, but for child safety violations, threats of violence, and serious fraud, the response is immediate and permanent.

17. Appeals

If your account has been suspended or banned and you believe it was a mistake, you can email us at hello@skillsaajha.com with the subject line "Appeal" and an explanation of what you believe happened. We will review and respond within a reasonable time.

Appeals are reviewed by a person. Appeals for child safety, credible threats, and serious fraud violations are unlikely to succeed.

18. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines as the platform grows, as we see new patterns of behaviour, and as the law changes. When we make significant updates, we will notify users through the app, by email, or by a banner on the website.

The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will always show the most recent version. Continuing to use SkillSaajha after a change indicates that you accept the updated Guidelines.

If you have feedback on these Guidelines - something that is confusing, missing, or unfair - email us at hello@skillsaajha.com. We mean it. The platform belongs to its users, and we want the rules to reflect what good users actually need.

Thanks for being part of SkillSaajha. Treat the people here the way you would want to be treated, and the rest of these guidelines will take care of themselves.
