Welcome to SkillSaajha. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SkillSaajha mobile application, our website at skillsaajha.com, and any related services (together, the "Service"). Please read these Terms carefully before using the Service.
1. Who We Are
SkillSaajha is operated by Amit Singh, an individual sole proprietor based in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. References in these Terms to "SkillSaajha", "we", "us", or "our" mean Amit Singh operating under the name SkillSaajha. References to "you" or "your" mean you, the user of the Service.
You can reach us at any time at hello@skillsaajha.com.
2. Your Agreement
By creating an account on SkillSaajha, by signing in, or by using the Service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Service.
These Terms form a binding legal agreement between you and SkillSaajha. You are entering this agreement on your own behalf. If you are using the Service for or on behalf of any other person, you confirm that you are authorised to do so.
3. Eligibility (18+)
To use SkillSaajha, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age. SkillSaajha is not available to anyone under 18.
- Be legally able to enter into a binding contract under the laws applicable to you.
- Not have been previously banned or suspended from SkillSaajha.
- Not be barred from receiving services under the laws of India or any other applicable country.
By creating an account, you confirm each of the points above is true. We may ask for reasonable verification at any time. We may immediately close any account that we believe belongs to a person under 18, has been opened by a previously banned user, or otherwise does not meet these requirements.
4. Your Account
4.1 Creating an Account
To use most features of the Service, you must create an account. You can sign up using any of the sign-in methods we support, including email with a one-time password (OTP), phone number with OTP, Google, and LinkedIn. You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during sign-up and onboarding, and keep that information up to date.
4.2 Account Security
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must not share your sign-in details with anyone else or allow another person to access your account. If you suspect that someone has gained unauthorised access to your account, you must notify us immediately at hello@skillsaajha.com.
4.3 One Account Per Person
SkillSaajha is intended for one personal account per real person. You must not create multiple accounts, create accounts on behalf of someone else without their permission, or operate fake or duplicate accounts.
4.4 Account Ownership
Your account is personal and non-transferable. You cannot sell, gift, rent, or assign your account to anyone else.
5. What SkillSaajha Is
SkillSaajha is a peer-to-peer skill exchange platform. The Service connects users who want to teach a skill with users who want to learn that skill, and the other way around. The goal is that two users meet, exchange knowledge through a mutually willing arrangement, and both walk away having taught and learned.
The exchange is non-commercial. SkillSaajha does not process payments between users, and there are no transactions on the platform. Skills are traded for skills, not money.
6. What SkillSaajha Is Not
To make sure everyone understands the platform correctly, SkillSaajha is not:
- An online course platform. We do not host courses, lessons, video lectures, or curriculum.
- A tutoring marketplace or paid coaching service. We do not facilitate paid teaching.
- An employer or recruiter. Users are not our employees, contractors, or agents.
- A dating, romance, or matrimonial app. SkillSaajha is for skill exchange only.
- A guarantee of meeting anyone, learning any specific skill, or achieving any outcome.
- A verification service. While we may show a verification badge for some accounts in the future, we do not certify, audit, or guarantee the skills, qualifications, identity, intentions, or behaviour of any user.
7. Your Content and Profile
The Service collects a small amount of content from you so that other users can find and recognise you. This includes:
- Your name, age, gender, city, and user type
- Your profile picture (which may be an illustrated avatar from our gallery or a photo you upload)
- Your bio
- The skills you choose to teach and to learn, with their levels and any optional short descriptions
- Messages you send to other users
All of this is collectively your User Content. You retain ownership of your User Content. You agree that:
- Everything you submit is true, accurate, and not misleading.
- You have the right to share it. For example, if you upload a photo, it is a photo of you, or you have permission from the person in the photo to upload it.
- Your bio and any free-text fields do not contain anything that breaks the law, harasses anyone, infringes anyone else's rights, or violates section 10 of these Terms.
- You are responsible for what you write to other users. We do not actively read private messages, but we may review messages if they are reported or if a safety investigation is required, as described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Limited Licence You Grant Us
You retain ownership of your User Content. To run the Service, we need a narrow permission to use it. You therefore grant SkillSaajha a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable licence to host, store, copy, display, distribute, and process your User Content solely for the purpose of providing, maintaining, securing, and improving the Service.
This licence is limited to what is required to make SkillSaajha work. It includes, for example, showing your profile to other users you have matched with, delivering your messages to the intended recipient, displaying your bio in discovery, and storing your skills for matching. It does not include using your User Content for advertising, selling it to third parties, or sharing it beyond what we have explained in our Privacy Policy.
The licence ends when you delete the relevant User Content or your account, except in two cases described in the Privacy Policy: backups (which are rotated out within 90 days) and content that has been shared with other users (for example, a message you sent remains visible to the recipient as part of their own message history).
9. User Conduct and Acceptable Use
Using SkillSaajha is a privilege, not a right. We trust users to behave like adults who respect each other. You agree to:
- Be honest in your profile, including your name, age, skills, location, and intentions.
- Treat every other user with basic respect and courtesy.
- Use the Service only to find skill exchange partners, not for any other purpose.
- Respect other users' time. If you commit to a meeting or session, show up or let them know in advance.
- Follow the laws that apply to you.
- Comply with our Community Guidelines at all times.
10. Strictly Prohibited Behaviour
You must not, and must not allow any other person using your account to, do any of the following on SkillSaajha:
10.1 Harm to Other Users
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, or bully any other user.
- Send unwanted sexual content, requests, or images.
- Make discriminatory comments based on caste, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or nationality.
- Share another user's personal information (such as their phone number, address, or photographs) without their consent.
- Doxx, threaten violence against, or attempt to identify any user in real life beyond what they themselves share.
10.2 Dishonesty and Impersonation
- Create a fake profile, impersonate someone else, or pretend to be a brand, public figure, or fictional character.
- Misrepresent your skills, age, or identity.
- Use someone else's photograph without their permission.
- Operate more than one account.
- Re-register after being banned or suspended without our permission.
10.3 Commercial Misuse
- Promote, advertise, or solicit paid services on SkillSaajha. The platform is for non-commercial skill exchange.
- Demand or pay money for "skill exchange" in a way that turns it into a paid lesson.
- Run multi-level marketing, network marketing, dropshipping recruitment, crypto promotions, or any pyramid scheme.
- Promote competing platforms or steer users off SkillSaajha.
- Use SkillSaajha to recruit for jobs unless the recruitment is itself a legitimate skill exchange.
10.4 Illegal Content and Activity
- Post or send any content that is illegal, sexually explicit, child-exploitation material, terrorism-related, or otherwise prohibited by Indian law.
- Sell or offer to teach how to make weapons, drugs, hacking tools, or anything else whose creation or distribution is illegal.
- Attempt to defraud, scam, or financially harm any user.
10.5 Platform Abuse
- Scrape, copy, or harvest profiles, messages, or other content from SkillSaajha.
- Use bots, automated scripts, or any automated means to access the Service or perform actions on it.
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, security measures, or any restriction we place on the Service.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any part of our infrastructure without our written permission.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the SkillSaajha app.
- Submit content that contains viruses, malware, or any other harmful code.
- Spam, flood the Service with low-quality content, or send mass identical messages.
10.6 Misuse of Reports
- Submit false reports against other users.
- Use the reporting system to harass or retaliate.
Breaking any of these rules can result in immediate suspension or permanent ban of your account, removal of your content, and where appropriate, reporting to law enforcement.
11. Interactions Between Users
SkillSaajha is a platform that lets users find and message each other. We are not a party to any conversation, arrangement, or exchange between users.
This means:
- We do not vouch for any user. Their identity, age, skills, intentions, and behaviour are their own.
- We do not guarantee that a swap will happen, that anyone will reply to your messages, or that the skill teaching you receive will be of any particular quality.
- We are not responsible for the actions or omissions of any user.
- Any dispute that arises between users is between those users. We are willing to help informally where we can, but the responsibility for resolving disputes between users rests with the users themselves.
Be sensible. Use your judgment. Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it probably is - stop the interaction and use the Block or Report tools described in section 14.
12. In-Person Meetings and External Calls
If you choose to meet a SkillSaajha user in person, you agree that:
- The decision is yours alone.
- You are responsible for your own safety.
- SkillSaajha has no obligation to verify the other person's identity, history, or intentions, and accepts no liability for what happens at or after the meeting.
We recommend that you:
- Meet first in a public place such as a cafe, library, or co-working space.
- Tell a friend or family member where you are going and who you are meeting.
- Stay sober and alert.
- Do not share sensitive personal information at a first meeting.
- Never send money to another user, and never share financial details, card numbers, UPI PINs, OTPs, or banking passwords. SkillSaajha is a skill-swap platform and will never ask you to pay another user to learn or teach. Any request for money should be treated as a warning sign and reported.
- End the meeting if you feel unsafe at any point.
- Report and block anyone who behaves inappropriately.
When you tap a button in the app to start a Google Meet, Zoom, or WhatsApp conversation, you are leaving SkillSaajha. The rules of that external service then apply, and we have no visibility into the conversation.
13. Fairness of Skill Exchange
SkillSaajha is built on the idea that two adults can agree to exchange teaching time fairly. We do not set a fixed exchange rate, format, or duration. Two users can agree to:
- One session each, alternating who teaches and who learns,
- A longer arrangement spread over weeks,
- An online format, an in-person format, or a mixture,
- Any other format that works for both of them.
You are free to walk away from a swap at any time. You are also free to decline a swap request without giving a reason. There is no obligation to swap with anyone.
However, repeatedly committing to swaps and then not following through, or knowingly misrepresenting what you can teach, is a violation of these Terms and can lead to suspension.
14. Reporting, Blocking, and Moderation
SkillSaajha provides tools to help you protect yourself and the community:
14.1 Blocking
You can block another user at any time from their profile or from your chat with them. Once blocked, that user can no longer see you in discovery, message you, or appear to you. Block records are private; the blocked user is not told who blocked them.
14.2 Reporting
You can report any user who is behaving in a way that violates our rules or makes you feel unsafe. When you report, you can select a reason and optionally add details. Our team reviews reports and may take action including warnings, content removal, suspension, or permanent banning.
14.3 How We Investigate
To investigate a report fairly, we may review the activity of the reported user, including messages they exchanged with the reporter and with other users. We do this only to the extent needed to reach a fair conclusion. We treat the identity of the reporter as confidential except where legally required to disclose it.
14.4 Action We May Take
Depending on the severity and history of the violation, we may:
- Send a warning
- Remove specific content
- Temporarily restrict certain features (such as messaging)
- Suspend the account for a defined period
- Permanently ban the account
- Block the user's device, email, or phone number from creating new accounts
- Report the matter to law enforcement
Our decisions are at our discretion. We do not have the resources of a large platform, and we try our best to be fair.
14.5 Bad-faith Reports
Submitting reports we determine to be false, retaliatory, or in bad faith is itself a violation of these Terms and may result in action against the reporter's account.
15. Suspension and Termination
15.1 Suspension by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice and at our discretion, if we believe that:
- You have violated these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
- You have provided false information.
- You are using the Service in a way that harms other users, our infrastructure, or our reputation.
- Your account has been inactive for an extended period.
- Continued operation of your account creates legal or safety risk.
Where reasonable, we will tell you why we suspended or terminated your account and give you a chance to respond. For serious violations such as child safety, threats of violence, or serious fraud, we will act first and explain after.
15.2 Termination by You
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account or by emailing us. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your account and personal data are erased as soon as you confirm, and there is no recovery period. We cannot restore a deleted account. See our Privacy Policy for details on what happens to your data.
15.3 Effect of Termination
When your account is terminated, your right to use the Service ends. Sections of these Terms that, by their nature, should survive termination will survive, including sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law.
16. Our Intellectual Property
The SkillSaajha name, the SkillSaajha logo, the illustrated avatar gallery, the design and layout of the app and website, the source code, and all related materials are the intellectual property of SkillSaajha and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the SkillSaajha app on a device that you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. This licence is for use only, not ownership.
You must not:
- Copy, reproduce, modify, or create derivative works of any part of SkillSaajha.
- Use SkillSaajha branding, logos, or names for any purpose without our prior written permission.
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices.
17. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers (such as Supabase for our database, Vercel for hosting, Google and the operating system for sign-in and push notifications, and external apps for calls such as Google Meet, Zoom, and WhatsApp). When you use a feature that involves a third party, you are also subject to that third party's terms of service and privacy policy.
We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Your use of any third-party service is at your own risk.
18. Service Availability and Changes
We work to keep the Service available, but we do not promise that it will always be available, fast, error-free, or secure. The Service may be unavailable from time to time due to maintenance, technical issues, or events outside our control.
We may, at any time and at our discretion:
- Add, modify, or remove features
- Suspend the Service in whole or in part
- Discontinue the Service entirely
- Impose limits on use (for example, on the number of swaps, messages, or matches in a given period)
For significant changes, where reasonably possible, we will notify users in advance. We are not liable for any loss caused by changes, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
19. Fees and Future Paid Features
The core features of the Service are free to use. We offer optional paid features such as premium plans, profile boosts, and other add-ons. Where a feature costs money, the relevant terms, prices, and refund rules are clearly displayed at the point of purchase.
You are never charged for anything without your explicit consent. The free baseline of skill exchange - creating an account, building a profile, swiping, matching, and chatting at reasonable volume - remains available without payment.
See our Refund Policy for how refunds work on paid features.
20. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
In particular, we do not warrant:
- That the Service will meet your specific requirements
- That the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- That any specific match, message, swap, or outcome will occur
- That the information shared by other users is accurate or truthful
- That any other user is who they claim to be or has the skills they claim to have
- That any meeting arranged through the Service will be safe or successful
You use the Service entirely at your own risk.
21. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
Where law prohibits a full exclusion of liability, our maximum total liability to you for any claim arising under or in connection with these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid to SkillSaajha in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) one thousand Indian Rupees (INR 1,000).
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for personal injury caused by our negligence to the extent the law does not permit such exclusion.
22. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SkillSaajha and its proprietor from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:
- Your use of the Service
- Your User Content
- Your violation of these Terms or any applicable law
- Your interactions with other users, including any in-person meeting
- Your infringement of any third-party right, including any intellectual property or privacy right
We may, at our option, take exclusive control of any matter for which you are required to indemnify us. You agree to cooperate with our defence of such claims.
23. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the Service, are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
You and SkillSaajha agree that the courts located in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Service.
By using SkillSaajha, you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts and waive any objection to the choice of forum on any grounds, including inconvenient forum.
24. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, new features, or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
- Notify users in the app, by email, or by a banner on our website, depending on the nature of the change
- Give reasonable notice before material changes take effect, where required
Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.
